A simple call to real, Bible-centred Christian living

You know, there’s a question every one of us who follows Jesus has to face at some point:
Do I truly love the Lord?

It’s not “Do I have all the right doctrines lined up?”
It’s not “Am I going to the right church?”
It’s simply - do I love Him?

The Bible never presents love for God as some cold, formal duty. It’s personal. It’s from the heart. The psalmist could say, “I love the Lord,” and then he told us why, because the Lord heard his cry and answered him. Real love for God grows out of knowing how good He’s been to us, how He’s met us in our need and shown us His grace.

And listen, this love isn’t perfect, even with myself and some of you reading this will admit that our prayer life is pretty weak. Our feelings come and go.

We fail more than we like to admit. But the honest believer doesn’t try to hide that from the Lord. He just comes and says, “Lord, You know that I love You.” That kind of honesty is so much better than a polished religion that never admits it needs help.

A true Christian is a Biblicist. That simply means he wants to build his life on the Bible. He doesn’t take his lead from man-made traditions like Calvinism or Arminianism, or the latest trends, or what everybody else is saying. He goes back to the Word and asks, “What does God say?” That’s the standard he wants to live by.

And when we live that way, something beautiful happens. Across different backgrounds and different fellowships, those who really love the Lord and hold on to His Word find they share the same foundation:

  • The Bible is our final authority.
  • Jesus Christ is God the Son who died and rose again for us.
  • Salvation is by grace through faith alone.
  • Every person needs to be born again.
  • The Christian life is a call to walk in love and holiness with the Saviour

These things are the heart of it all. Secondary differences will always be there, but the centre remains the same for every true believer.

Loving the Word of God and loving Jesus go hand in hand. The more we feed on the Scriptures, the more our love for Him grows. Even when prayer feels dry and our hearts feel cold, we just keep coming back to Him. We keep reading. We keep trusting. We keep telling Him the truth about where we’re weak.

You’re not strange for loving the Word and loving Jesus. You’re not a failure because your prayer life needs help. You’re just a Christian who wants to be real with the Lord.

So keep loving the Word.
Keep loving Jesus.
Keep bringing your weakness to Him.

That’s the path of a simple, honest, whole-hearted Christian - and the Lord is so pleased with that.
